Willow
and Amelia were growing more and more each day. Cameron and Lilly eventually
purchased their own house to raise their little family and they adjusted to
life with kids, work and each other. They had their occasional fights but they
worked it all out’ they had two kids to care for after all. They both made
great parents; Lilly was the over-protective mother while Cameron seemed like
one of the kids. “I’m going to get you! I’m going to get you!” he yelled as he
chased Amelia all over the floor. She was just like her dad and Lilly could see
that. She was adventurous, curious, funny, and not afraid to take risks. Willow
on the other hand: She was a bit of a momma’s girl but that was because Lilly could
not leave her alone. Willow was the baby whose heart rate escalated that day
they were born. Lilly always had a firm grip on her. Cameron felt she was
worrying too much, but she was a new mom, she honestly could not help it.
Their
friends were well also. Zoe had been doing well with catering she decided to
branch out and started her own business. Summer moved to Bridgeport to further
“aspiring actress” career, while Emma decided to room with Zoe. She is working
on her writing and was hoping to be published sometime soon. No one had heard
much from Jason since that day Eric threatened him. They did however hear he apparently
was disowned by his dad and sort of dropped off the face of the earth. They all
were happy to admit it was peaceful without him around. Eric moved in with his
boyfriend after he got a job as a music producer. Their lives had all changed
over the past year and a half they stayed in contact as much as possible but
life just made it difficult at times.
Cameron
was playing with Willow while Amelia sat on the floor flipping through her book
when Lilly came home. “Hey guys.” She let out a heavy sigh, “have they eaten
yet?” Cameron looked at her, “Was I supposed to do that?” Lilly flipped out,
“Cameron! You’re supposed to…” before she finished her sentence, she could see
the smirk on her husband’s face. “Ha ha ha very funny.” “Honey, I do know how
to take care of my own children you know. I’ve gotten pretty good at it, you
know?” Cameron insisted. “Yea I know and I’m sorry.” Lilly was exhausted, she
has been working so much that it seemed like she rarely saw the twins and when
she did they were in bed fast asleep. Willow and Amelia were growing more and
more each day and it was breaking her heart.
After
they bathed and put the girls to bed, Lilly decided to have a talk with Cameron.
“Things at work have been hectic. I’m so tired and I’m missing so many things
with the girls.” Cameron cuddled her on the couch, “Yeah I know you have been
busy but things will get better.” “You have always been so optimistic. I’m
thinking about taking a break from working. At least until the girls are in
school. What do you think?” she said. Cameron didn’t respond right away. Lilly
continued, “I’d rather be tired from chasing the girls around all day than be
tired from dealing with other people’s crap.” Cameron still didn’t say
anything.
“Well
what do you think though Cameron?” Lilly asked again. “Is that want you really
want to do? If it is than I want you to do it. I don’t want you to be unhappy.”
“Seriously? Yea I think the girls would enjoy having their mommy around all
day.” He smiled and gave her a kiss. Lilly let out a sigh of relief; it felt
like a huge weight is lifted off her shoulders. She’s able to spend the
next few months enjoying her time with her busy babies.
***
Lilly was busy feeding and dressing the girls when the doorbell rang. It was Eric.
Lilly couldn’t contain herself, she practically knocked him over as she hugged
him. “Oh my gosh it’s great to see you!” Lilly and Eric had so much to catch up
on; he started dating a man named Noah shortly after the twins were born. “So
how’s the new hunk?” Lilly asked excitedly. “I’m sorry did you say ‘hunk’?” He
laughed, maybe a little harder than he should have. “Okay fine. How about Piece
of Man Meat, Hubby or Love Muffin?” Lilly giggled. “He’s great, they both are actually.” Eric responded.
“Both? Oh yeah that’s right Zoe mentioned he had a son. Gavin, is it?” Lilly
sat down on the couch. “Yea he’s a little tike around the girls’ age. A little
busy body but he’s adorable though.” Erik smiled. “You’re really happy aren’t
you?” she asked.
“Yea,
it’s been a while since I’ve felt like this.” He was smiling ear to ear. “I’m really happy for you Eric, who knows
maybe you’ll be the nest to get married.” Lilly became giddy. “Yea maybe, I
never really thought about marriage until you and Cameron said your vows and
all. Though I knew that I always wanted kids at some point but I figured I
would adopt when the time was right. Noah and Gavin make me happy, so I’m
content.” Lilly and Eric finished their
conversation before he sat down to play with the girls. As Lilly watched, she
realized the girls would be celebrating another birthday in two days. She felt an
empty space in her heart all of a sudden; she wasn’t sure what it was really.
After
Eric left Lilly decided to clean up the house a bit while the girls napped, she
was doing the laundry when a thought came across her mind: another baby. That’s
what it was, a bit of baby fever. She loved her girls so much but they would be
going off to school soon. She wanted another baby and that was apparent, but what she would soon find out was just down that alley. “Guess
I better talk to Cameron when I get the chance. I wonder if he’s feeling the
same way.” She thought, “I’ll find out.”
***
It
was the morning of the twin’s birthday. They were busy as always getting into
things left and right. Willow spent the morning chasing her sister around the living room. They
had a lot of fun together and Lilly hoped they continued to stay close. Around
noon the guests started to arrive, first was Zoe as gorgeous as ever then Eric
and Noah showed up. It was great to have most of the group back together again.
They spent some time admiring the girls and catching up before they decided to
do the birthday cakes. Lilly braced herself; her little girls were getting
ready to grow up. She had decided to talk to Cameron later that night since she
figured he would be in a great mood.
Willow
was first being the oldest and all; she took a deep breath and blew out the
candles on her itty-bitty cake. Willow
aged up to be a beautiful little girl like her mother. Next was Amelia’s turn, Lilly
held her as she blew or actually spit on her cake. They both grew up into to beautiful little
girls. Lilly tried to fight back the tears. “They’re growing up.” She whimpered.
“Well yeah they’re supposed to that.” Zoe laughed, “it will be okay Lilly.”
They all ate cake and enjoyed each other’s company. It was around nine when the
guests decided to leave. Willow and her sister bathed and headed off to bed.
***
Cameron
and Lilly decided to relax on the bed after cleaning up. Lilly cleared her throat,
“Today was a big day.” He yawned, “Yea it was. I can’t believe Willow and
Amelia have grown so much, seems like they were just born yesterday.” “It
really does. That’s kind of what I wanted to talk to you about. What would you
say about having another baby?” Lilly asked. Cameron was quiet. He was quiet a
little longer than expected and that worried her. “I don’t know Lil. Work has
been hectic and I thought you wanted to go back to work once the girls started
going to school.” He stood up. “Well I did but we’re not getting any younger
you know. Our birthdays are right around the corner. The girls will be teens
before we know it and eventually off to college!! We always talked about a big
family.” He sighed, “I know we did but this time we can actually plan and
decide when to have a baby, together.”
“That’s what I’m trying to do now! Let’s talk about this.” Lilly insisted.
“I’m
not ready for another baby just yet Lil.” Let’s wait a while longer.” Cameron
was about the say something else when Lilly blurted out, “I’m already pregnant.”
There was silence, silence that filled the whole house. “You’re kidding me
right.” Cameron asked. “Nope. I was going to tell you sooner but…”
“But
nothing. It’s just not the right time Lilly.” Cameron was furious. Lilly had
never seem him like this before. “So what you expect me to just get rid of it?”
Lilly asked. She was shocked that the conversation even took this turn. “I don’t
know. Let’s talk about another time.” He walked over and began preparing for
bed. Lilly left the room and sat on the couch to cry. “This is not how I expected things to be.”
The
yelling woke the girls. As they listened to their parents argue they began to
worry. “Willow? What do you think they’ll do?” Amelia asked her sister. Willow was quiet for
a second, “I don’t know Mel. Let’s just go back to bed. I’m sure everything
will be alright.” She may have looked like her mother but she took after her
father in many ways: Always looking on the bright side. Though this wasn’t his
finest moment.
